Crop mode

72 points = 1 inch. Default 36pt ≈ 0.5 inch.

Cropping sets the CropBox only — the original content is preserved and can be recovered by resetting the crop.

Crop PDF trims the visible area of your PDF pages by setting the CropBox. Trim margins from the edges, or apply a custom crop box with precise coordinates. The MediaBox and all page content are preserved — cropping is non-destructive and can be undone by resetting the crop. The operation runs locally in your browser.

How it works

How to use Crop PDF

  1. 1
Drop your PDF. Drag and drop a PDF file, or click to choose one.
  2. 2
Choose crop mode. Trim margins from each edge (top, right, bottom, left in points), or apply a custom crop box (x, y, width, height).
  3. 3
Select pages. Apply the crop to all pages, or specify a page range (e.g. 1,3,5-7).
  4. 4
Click Run Crop PDF. The tool sets the CropBox on each selected page using pdf-lib in a Web Worker.
  5. 5
Download the result. The cropped PDF is offered as a download. The original content is preserved — only the visible region changes.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is cropping destructive?

No. The tool sets the CropBox, which defines the visible region. The MediaBox and all page content are preserved. You can reset the CropBox in any PDF editor to restore the original view.

What units are used for margins?

Margins and crop box coordinates are in PDF points, where 72 points = 1 inch. The default margin is 36 points (0.5 inch).

What is the difference between margin mode and custom box mode?

Margin mode trims the specified amount from each edge of the page — useful for removing headers, footers, or white borders. Custom box mode applies an absolute crop rectangle with precise coordinates — useful for cropping to a specific region.

Can I crop only specific pages?

Yes. Uncheck "Apply to all pages" and enter a page range like 1,3,5-7. Only those pages will be cropped; others remain unchanged.

Why does my PDF viewer still show the full page?

Most modern viewers honor the CropBox, but some older or non-standard viewers may not. The crop is correctly written to the PDF — try opening the file in a different viewer.
